FROG it all!!!!!
So, I'm in town at my parent's house, and we just figured out how to get my computer on the 'net. I've made a very sad decision - I'm frogging the whole sleeve. Believe me, I'm crying about it, too. It's just too large. It's practically baggy! With a fitted body, it just wouldn't look right. Hence, the frog.
I went to the craft store and got a few balls of Sugar n' Cream (since they didn't have Peaches & Creme) and worked up a few of those Ballband Dishclothes that everyone is so enamored of lately. I needed something I could start and finish quickly so I wouldn't get so discouraged/feel so bad about starting over on Tubey.
On another note, due to certian squirmy, early-rising persons, I was awake to see the sunrise at the edge of a very stormy sky, and I had to get a picture. Sadly, I don't have my camera cable with me, so the Saturday Sky just gets this description 'til I can get my piccies loaded.
I started a KAL, Show Me Your Muff. I'm going to have to buy yarn for this! I have nothing of a stash. I do, however have a very nice Landscapes color that I want to get more of. I may just do that.

Yay! (or is that Waaaa?)
So, I told myself that I wasn't going to get distracted by the internet in any way today. I was going to knit. And I did. Quite a bit. And I can't seem to stop thinking in short sentences.
So, I knit today. Got a good bit done on sleeve #1 for Tubey. All the fun stripes.

I'm using the "Jogless Jog" from, well, wherever it's from. It's not wonderful, but it's ok. I'm not loving the single black stripe, but I'm not about to frog all the way back to take it out. Maybe if it was for someone else, but I don't care enough for myself.

However, there is something that I will frog back for: I put in an extra row of increases after the first one, and when I tried it on, the whole sleeve is a little baggy. I ripped back to the last row of fuschia. That must've been the hardest thing I've ever done. I used another of my Denise cables and picked out what I thought was a single row. It, however, was not. I managed to get two seperate rows on the needles. I had to slip an entire row to find the ones that I missed. Grrrrr.
I've managed to fix it all, but I've only got about two rows of the black re-done. I would post a picture, but I don't want to document my misery that much.

Clarity
I love that crystal clear quality that everything gets just before a storm. The colors always seem a little brighter, edges a little sharper, and me a little happier. I love rain. It just doesn't happen much here, what with living in the desert and all.
On the knitting front, not much is being done. I'm still working on the black blob of sleeve for Tubey (I'll post pictures as soon as I start a stripe section), and still fighting to not cast on any new projects. I've come up with a good reason not to start a sock, at least for now: I've heard often that it's like petting a porcupine, and since I do most of my knitting holding MMT, that's not such a good. However, that excuse will only work for so long, and doesn't help keep me from anything but socks.
MathMan (hubby) has Monkey-Toes, and I should be taking a shower, but I just had to blog. I managed to join a few more rings today, and sign up for a swap! Do you know how hard it is to find an open swap?? That hard. Check my sidebar for the Lace Swap - it's open 'til Jan 31 (I would post a link, but I'm too lazy and too rushed right now.)
Well, I'm off to cleanse-ify, and hopefully get further in sleeveland.

Grumble
I need to figure out how to do this "RSS feed" stuff. I'm getting lazy with the clicking to find out who's updated. Plus, when you only have so much movement with a nursing/sleeping baby in your arms, you want the least amount of trouble you can get. So, I need to figure it out. --great. Hubby just decided to worry that RSS feeds give people backdoors into your system. And that is the type of thing he would worry about. :P

Join-y-ness
So I'm on a join-y lust. I'm too late for SP8, so I thought I take a look into SP9. It's a little early. So, I haveta wait. But I can sign up to join Saturday Sky. So I did. It's my understanding that you haveta have the ring code on your page before being approved to join up, so that's why it's there. Here's my sky:

I am seriously easily distracted. As I go to open my camera to download this pic, I lose myself in a knitblog that I haven't seen before, and a good 20 minutes later I start wondering why my camera was plugged up and on....D'oh! Oh, but about the picture...I gave the camera to hubby as I had baby girl asleep in my arms. It's the wonkiest of the pictures, but I like it. That's him you can see in the reflection. And no, I don't do windows. :)

I haven't gotten much done on Tubey, but luckily I also haven't cast-on for anything new. Baby steps. I do already have plans for what's next, though - I'm going to make a matching Tubey for MMT, and the Klien Bottle hat and Linux Illusion Scarf for hubby. Hmm....will I manage to finish them before next summer? We'll find out.

Ooo! Just got an e-mail dilly - I'm in Saturday Sky! And before I even finished my postie! (Easily amused as well as distracted!)

Indulgences
I went into the city for a few days again. The dreaded dentist appointmet...episode two. Can I just say how upset I am? I did't get cavities until I was 20. Yesterday's appointment was to repair three old fillings. I am 26. Shouldn't a filling last more than six years? The only good thing is that they managed to fit me in for my cleaning right after, so I don't have to worry about going back next week. No more dentist for six months, at least.
So, after a day like that, I decided that I deserved a treat. I headed off to my (semi) LYS, and splurged. I got the How to Knit Vintage Socks book, a package of needles, and some sock yarn - the mysterious Koigu that everyone talks about. I had to get someone to help me, what with the inexpierence and the never knitting with DPNs or on soocks before. There was quite a bit of sock yarn to choose from, but the Koigu was just so purr-t-ful. I figured that if I'm going to make socks, I have to like the yarn. And I do. Really. :)

I didn't manage to get anything done on Tubey. Too many other things that needed doing. But now that I'm back home, I'm sure that I can get cranking on this thing. I'm determined to get it done in time for cold weather, and I want to make one for MMT, too. How cute would that be, matching mommy-daughter sweaters! I think my head's gonna implode from the cuteness factor...I've gotta go work on this thing now!! I leave you with images of my trip back home.

Whatever....
Someone pointed out to me yesterday that my daughter should actually be Madamoiselle Monkey Toes. I don't think it sounds as good. So it's Miss Monkey Toes from now on.
MMT is on my lap kicking away at my keyboard as I type here, so don't be suprised at any grammatical or spelling errors. (They are one of my pet peeves.)
I managed to get a bit more of Tubey done yesterday. About 15 rows past the first sleeve join. There's nothing new to see - it's still just a black blob when I take a picture, so still none to post. I've found that when I work with the yarn for any given amount of time that the black rubs off on my skin. It's easy to tell how I wrap my yarn when I'm done.
I have to go pack for a visit into town. I have another hideously enjoyable dentist appointment on Wednesday. Quel Lucky me. Well, I'm off to do that packing. Adieu.

Sunday Morning Laziness
I got a new set of pans last week - Wear-ever anodized! I tried out the Cephalon but I didn't really like them. The Wear-ever ones are much smoother and thicker, they heat much more evenly. I made some chicken corn chowder last night. It cooked so well, didn't even have any scorch points from the milk and cheese.
Madame Monkey-Toes (aka my daughter) spent a good amount of time with her daddy yesterday, so I was able to get some work done myself. Well, I managed to get some work on Tubey in the corrected gauge yesterday. I'm not going to bother with a picture due to the fact that it would look almost identical to the older pictures. I'm having trouble sticking to working on it due to reading blogs a-plenty.

Week-ness
So, my daughter has begun teething. Meaning: almost all projects are on the back burner. I did manage to cast on and work about 10 inches of Tubey, however, re-checking my gauge I had to unravel and start over. :( 10 inches isn't much to some, but for me it's days worth of work, simply because I don't get the chance to work very often.

I did get a fun treat in the mail on Thursday - a colored Denise kit! Isn't it lovely? And they feel so nice to work with!

I have a (fairly) new cookbook - Pillsbury's Best Recipes 2006. I adore it. Seriously, it's grand. Last night I made the Sour Cream Chicken Enchaladas, and the Fudgy Smores Bars. I didn't get a picture of the enchaladas due to the fact that they dissappeared almost instantly, but I did get the bars. I'm not a marshmellow fan so I'm waiting on hubby to give the review.

Yes, those are M&Ms, no, they are not the normal colors. For our wedding, we had some printed in our colors, and they have been residing in a vacuum sealed bag in our freezer for, at this point, just shy of two years. I decided it was time to free some of them...
Now, my daughter is demanding my attention, and I believe we are both in dire need of a nap, so off we go.

beginnings
First post. How fun. I knit. That's one of the things I do. I do a lot of things. I'll have pictures later.
Just a bit of background - I knit twisted. Seriously, I do. I taught myself to knit, and once I had my technique down, I learned that my stitches should be oriented differently on the needle. But it works for me, and I can go pretty fast, so I don't care. Just makes for a little extra work on some patterns.
